What we treat
Orthotic solutions can be used both to treat and in some cases prevent a multitude of conditions which can develop for any number of reasons. Orthoses are used to alter the forces and strains through the muscular and skeletal structures in the body and to modify and provide support for movements across joints. Fine adjustment to alignments of structures within the body or offloading targeted areas is often effective when aiming to relieve debilitating pain, and increasing numbers of athletes are wearing orthoses to help protect the underside of and joints within the foot, ankle, leg and hip.
Leeds Orthotics provides access to the full range of orthotic treatments available from all providers. Common conditions that are effectively treated by orthotic interventions include:
Arthritis
Cerebral palsy
Drop foot
Flat foot
Golfer's elbow
High arched foot
Hip pain
Knee pain
Leg length discrepencies
Lower back pain
Motor neurone
Multiple sclerosis
Neuroma
Plantar fasciitis
Stroke
Tennis elbow
The first stage in any treatment is to have a full assessment with an orthotist in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of your condition. Your orthotist will then discuss their findings and professional opinions with you to determine the most effective course of treatment, along with your goals and any other appropriate factors which may help to support your rehabilitation. Increasing numbers of athletes are wearing orthoses to help protect soft tissues and reduce the likelihood of injury.
