Knee braces

Knee braces are worn around the knee joint to provide stability and support. They can be made from soft or rigid material depending on the amount of support required. Knee braces can reduce pain and instability at the joint, support rehabilitation following injury by offloading the tissues around the joint and aid postoperative healing.

Leeds Orthotics provide access to a wide range of knee bracing options including those only available to private suppliers.

What is the process for a patient to receive a knee brace?

For a knee brace to work effectively you would need to be assessed to determine the type of brace that would be most suitable for you, your lifestyle and goals. One of our experienced HCPC registered orthotists will carry out a thorough assessment. This will include taking medical history, checking muscle power, range of movement tests and assessing your gait.

If you are deemed suitable for a knee brace your orthotist will run through the options available and you will be measured for the knee brace that would best treat your condition. Leeds Orthotics have access to every knee brace on the market, including specialist sports specific braces, to ensure you have all the options available to you.

Once you have been measured you will return for a fitting appointment. During the fitting appointment the orthotist will teach you how to correctly fit your knee brace, when to wear the brace, as well as making clear how to care for your orthotic device.
