Orthotic provision

At Leeds Orthotics we are able to offer a comprehensive treatment package, from an initial assessment right through to review and quality aftercare. Our provision is centred around you, and our expert orthotists are able to draw on their experience to ensure you receive the best possible treatment. We work as part of a multidisciplinary team, meaning that we are able to draw upon expertise from a range of healthcare professionals.

Assessment

We fully assess every individual that we work with to ensure the most effective course of treatment. Initial assessments take place to allow your orthotist to understand your needs and discuss with the best way forward and include a physical assessment as well as analysis of movement patterns. For more details visit the assessment page.

Recommendations

Following an initial assessment, your orthotist will discuss their findings with you and make recommendations regarding your treatment options moving forward. This could include things like prescribing a bespoke orthotic device or a course of physiotherapy treatment, depending on the most appropriate treatment for you. If it is decided that orthotics are the best way forward, your orthotist will ensure that you understand what they are recommending and why. Our orthotists do not make a commission from any devices that we provide, so you can be sure that any advice given is impartial.

Bespoke orthotics

Each of our orthotic devices is as unique as the person that uses it. Many of the devices we provide are bespoke to ensure the best possible fit and performance and our orthotists work closely with our trusted manufacturing partners to ensure devices are made to exact specifications and material requirements. There is an extensive range of materials that our orthotists are able to utilise for comfort, performance and aesthetic purposes.

Fitting

Once an orthotic device has been prescribed and manufactured, you will be invited into our clinic to have it fitted. Your orthotist will check that each component fits perfectly and ensure that the orthotic device works as intended. Any adjustments that are needed can be performed and your orthotist will ensure you are confident to fit and remove the device yourself before you leave our clinic. You will also be taught how to care for your orthosis.

Review

Once you have been using your device for a short period of time a follow up appointment will be scheduled. During the review, orthotists will determine if any alterations are required, and to assess how effective the intervention has been. The review is an important part of the service provided by Leeds Orthotics to ensure each and every patient gets the most from the solutions we provide.

Aftercare

Even after the review appointment is over, we are still on hand to support you through your treatment. Our orthotists can work with other healthcare professionals to discuss further treatment options, or arrange any repairs, duplications or replacements as and when required.
